SHARON GLAAS FHEA
Linguist | Researcher | Teacher
I am an ESRC funded Doctoral Researcher at the University of Birmingham in the UK, based in the Department of English Language and Linguistics. My thesis focuses on discourses of economic crisis in the Pro-EU British press and the European Union in the lead up to the UK Brexit referendum of 2016.
More broadly I am interested in the linguistic resources of evaluation, persuasion, and deception, particularly in political and media contexts. I am also interested in the language of literary texts and am working as a Research Assistant at the University of Oxford on a project studying non-canonical syntax in dramatic dialogue. You can find more information about my work on my research page
